Susan obtained her license (NC #3387) in Massage & Bodywork Therapy after graduating from Body Therapy Institute, Silk Hope, NC in 2002 and has completed more advanced training in the areas of Comfort Touch: Nuturing Acupressure, For the elderly, the ill, & anyone in need of a caring touch (certified by Mary Kathleen Rose), Bellanina Facelift Massage, Integrative Reflexology (certified with Claire Miller), Craniosacral Therapy, Orthopedic massage, Hot Stone massage, Aromatherapy, Lymph massage, and working with people living with cancer. She is also a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner for people and animals. She has a private practice in Apex, NC and is open for business while following safety guidelines and protocols for your health & well-being.
Susan is also a Duke trained Certified Integrative Health Coach and in addition completed an 8 month certification in Holistic Nutrition with American Fitness Professionals & Associates. She is also a Certified Yoga Teacher and holds three teacher training certifications with the late Esther Myers of Ontario, Canada; Yogi Hari of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and Susan Jackson of Cary, NC. She has additional certifications in teaching Yoga to Seniors through Duke Integrative Medicine, Acu-Yoga with Michael Reed Gach (combining acupressure with yoga postures) and Aqua Yoga with Mary Irby (yoga practiced in water) and has taught yoga for over 25 years. Her specialty is Hatha yoga for beginner and intermediate adults 55 years and older. More recently, she obtained her certification to teach Tai Chi by Dianne Bailey and currently teaches group classes in Yoga & Tai Chi at the Apex Senior Center and in Cary at SearStone Retirement Community. Susan holds a B.A. degree in Psychology from UNC-Wilmington and a M.S. degree in Recreation Administration with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation from UNC-Chapel Hill. She worked as a Recreation Therapist for 13 years in private psychiatric hospitals and community settings (Parks & Recreation Departments) and as a Ropes Course & Team Building Director & Facilitator before starting her own business in the Healing Arts.
